The PS3 gaming generation has been an exceptional generation for gaming with video games like Uncharted, Ratchet & Clank, Gears of War, God of War, the PS3 has just been a fantastic gaming experience so far.

Now there are a lot of people interested in the next generation of gaming, in particular the PS4, so the we all know that the Playstation 4 is in development right now, but it seems like the new information about the PS4 has been leaked from Sony, there is also news that developers are working on PS4, which means that there will be “launch title games” and launch title games usually take 2 years to develop and launch title games are released at exactly the same time as the new console gets released.  This means that the Playstation 4 gaming console will be released sometime between 2012-2014

After a bit of a rough start, the Playstation 3 has established itself as a fine gaming console, providing a top-end bluray player, adding as a powerful media hub and of-course offering cutting edge gaming, but as the PS3 entering it’s last few years of it’s cycle, attention has turned to what the next generation playstation will bring to the table.  We have compiled a wish list of what we would like to see in the next gen console, the PS4.

The first one is not so much what it will add, but what features we would like to see get carried over from the PS3.  That being said, we would like the PS4 to continue being a bluray player and continue being an on-demand video player from hosts like youtube to keep it busy under our tv’s.

We would also like the PS4 to be more powerful than it’s predecessor, we expect the PS4 to bring the latest graphics technology and unparalleled sound and even better 3d functionality to accommodate the newest 3d tv and all the other benefits that will come with an even more powerful chip processor.

Although the Playstation Network has been a big hit, the xbox has had an edge in terms of community so we would like to see the PS4 step it up in that department and figure out the secret recipe in this department that has been working so well for the Xbox.

Also we would like to see the PS4 be more portable:

Although we’re expecting some neat new tricks from the Playstation Vita, which should have been around for a while by the time it acquires a new big brother.  We want sony to take a good look at how it’s going to make it’s gaming experience more portable with the release of the PS4.  We want to see portable data and gaming and an adequate link up with phones, tablets, and laptops.

There is a large back-catalog of games that we love to play on the PS1, PS2 & PS3 and would love to be able to play those games from time to time on the new Playstation 4, that is why backward compatibility would be desirable.

There have been a few rumors of a PS4 floating around, not as many as the rumors for the new Xbox, however, recently a lot more rumors spawned of a new gaming console from Sony after earlier this year Kaz Hirai mentioned in a press interview – “we are no deliberating on a Playstation 4 or a next gen gaming console, whatever we call it”.

On May 26, 2011 PS4 rumors were given a more solid basis when the executive VP & CFO of Sony- Masaru Kato subtly confirmed that Sony is working on the Playstation 4 in a conference call with investors regarding the increased ‘research & development’ costs.  Eurogamer reported Kato saying ”This is a platform business, so for the future platform – when we’ll be introducing what product I cannot discuss that – but our development work is already under way, so the costs are incurred there.”

All the while, Kato denied that he referred to the Playstation 4 in his statements, saying to the Wall Street Journal- ”Some people misread what I said.”

Also, you may keep the following in mind when pinpointing the actual release date of the Playstation 4:

Playstation 4 Release Date:

Many of you are anxiously anticipating the release of the newest gaming console from Sony, the Playstation 4 gaming console.  It is still unclear when exactly the PS4 will be released to replace the Playstation 3 and take it off the shelves.  The rumors and speculation are that the PS4 will be hitting stores in 2012 based on the following:

Playstation Shelf Life:

Since Sony’s release of the original Playstation 1, the shelf life of every Playstation successor has been 6 years…. In 1995 the Playstation debuted, in 2000 the Playstation 2 was released, and 6 years later, in 2006 the Playstation 3 arrived, thus we can expect a Playstation 4 release in 2012 sometime based on the history of the previous Playstation’s shelf lives.

Playstation 4 Rumors:

There is a lot of talk going around in the gaming world, including talks of new video game technologies due to debut in late 2012 which are not supported by any current gaming console such as the X-Box 360 or the Playstation 3, that itself can hint that in 2012 there will be a gaming console that will support the new technologies in the video gaming world, regardless if they are talking about the new X-Box, PS, or Nintendo, you can be sure that Sony will want to jump the gun and get a head start on the retail market for their newest gaming console which will be the Playstation 4.

We have come across some interesting rumors to be shared with Playstation fans, this story in particular involves the creator of the original Playstation and also the previous Sony CEO Ken Kutaragi. Ken is the source of many rumors online that he is working on the development of Sony’s soon to be released  PlayStation 4.

Ken Kutaragi has been quoted saying that “he is working on a new project” that is “totally cool”, now that can only mean the Playstation 4.

Kutaragi stayed with Sony as the ‘senior technology advisor’ after stepping down from his position with Sony as a Chairman of Sony to be replaced by Kaz Hirai, Sony is now using Kutaragi’s services for the creation of their newest upcoming gaming console PS4.

Sony will be putting all of their efforts into releasing their new console at around the same time or earlier than their competitor Microsoft, there are many rumors that the new Xbox should be surfacing around the middle of 2012, so it is possible to conclude that we should be seeing Sony put out the PS4 on the shelves somewhere around then too.
